The Power of Principles
Hello everyone. I was working Step Two today (Came to believe that a power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity). I was thinking about a power greater than myself. Whenever I get stuck on this, I remember that … Continue reading

A Personal Inventory
Step 10: Continued to take personal inventory and when we were wrong, promptly admitted it. I like to make my personal inventories more personal by applying my H.O.W. model and waiting for my personal experience of it to emerge so … Continue reading

The Tools of Recovery
This morning I was thinking about resources that help us with our recovery. As I closed my eyes to hold this idea, an image came to me of a warrior with a sword and a shield. I remember this from … Continue reading
TO SEE WITH THE EYES OF THE HEART
TO SEE WITH THE EYES OF THE HEART Yesterday. There we were: newcomers, relapsers, a few people with more than a month, and me, the Recovery Focusing group facilitator at Costa Rica Recovery Center. Despite it being Monday, we looked forward to discovering what was going to emerge from our group process. We had arrived at Step Two: Came to believe that a power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity. I invited us all to go inside and P.A.U.S.E. as we held the concept of “a power greater than myself.” The P.A.U.S.E. for addiction is: Pause. Attend Urgency. Symbolize experience with Empathy. We went into our inner silence and waited for something fresh and new to come from inside us about “a power greater than ourselves.” I soon saw an image of a white light like the life force, moving up my legs and through my core. It seemed like the light was removing all the blocks that are in the way to its flow through me and out of me. I sensed in my body. In my heart area, I felt open, spacious. I stayed with this open feeling and soon got a sense of “seeing with the eyes of the heart.” I was very moved by this. My understanding was that my Higher Power sees with loving rather than judgmental eyes. Others shared their experience: “I feel bodily power. It is comforting and serene.” “It’s like I am riding a big wave, riding the edge of it, and I am actually enjoying the fact that I have so little control. I’m really digging it.” “I see a star filled sky at night and feel warm and full.” “I connect with nature and feel safety.” “I feel an inner power and have a sense of hope and openness.” “It’s like all the galaxies and solar systems are inside me. I feel comforted.” I knew I was seeing with the eyes of my heart. … Continue reading

A Spiritual Awakening NOW
